Email your directors and president. I emailed Brian Monday morning and he replied within minutes. It’s being put in agenda at winter meeting to move it back. It was experimental season.

It wasn’t about “kids” I can tell you that. Pretty hard to get kids involved when the snow has been over their heads the last two years.

It was more about dogs running the cats then kids trapping.

What about dogs running the cats? They moved both the hunting and trapping season for cats so what's the reason?

The trapper needs to watch out for dogs all the way through the end of the year if they are being used for small game hunting. My vote is for the seasons to start right after gun deer season is over.

I am sure I could catch a cat or fisher on my bone pile right now behind the house. They were hitting it daily before season but I am not even willing to walk back there in this weather.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Same here. Plus I could shut down a couple of freezers that I keep all my deer bones and scrap in before the season starts.

A lot of the houndsmen were feeling left out because there wasn't snow for the beginning of the season. With deeper snow the cats tree very fast. They pushed hard to get the season dates moved a few years ago.

I was too busy not making money Farming . So I didn't run a bait pile the past few years

Now I wish I had.

The fishers liked the Grape jellies we used a few years ago bear baiting... I'll bait bear and fishers next year.

I thought they moved the season to prevent accidental dog catches in baited boxes. I have no problem with the dates of the season.

Help yourself.

That was part of it, but I know several of the guys that pushed pretty hard.

Its all about the end result. The later the season the less animals harvested. If that was there goal than they achieved it. Most of us that dont live in the north are either not going north because of weather or conflict with family's and Christmas obligations. At least the houndsmen are doing ok.

You're right hammer I'm not trapping this year. Have every year since the season moved, driving a 80 mile round trip to check traps. I have more than enough tanned fisher in my collection don't need anymore. What I would like is a nice prime marten, I'm not going to make the 200 mile round trip for that this year, maybe next.

You ever heard the saying watch you're own bobber.

Help yourself.

Caught a young bobcat today with only 3 sets out. I will post a picture when I get it thawed.

The big push for the marten fisher change was for more kids to actively participate with school off for break. There’s no dog conflicts in the marten woods and if that line is being used it’s BS.

Years ago I remember all the threads of 220 boxes for cats and fisher. I think that's where the issues came up but I have no data to back that up.

The fella behind that narrative still sends a letter to the editor ( Outdoor News) every year trying to rid the woods of the 220. I remember his name but it not my right to post it here.
