I came across this old tree stand hanging about 20 feet up a tree earlier this fall. It was on public land in the Tug Hills of NY. It has been there (unused) for so long the tree has grown around the strap and the tree has a scar running almost to the ground. This hunter must have seen what I saw in this area as about a week earlier I hung a stand about 30 yards away running parallel to the same creek as his stand. I never saw this stand when I put mine up.

Cool. When I find stuff like this I always wonder what the story behind it was. I also think there was probably a good reason why they hung that stand there.

Looks like lightning struck the stand and went down the tree.

I always wonder about the story ,fell out , was coming back and life got crazy remembered it the next year wehen he was looking for it
got injured on the way out like hear attack hauling his deer out.
storm moved in and he had to leave before he could get back out to pull the stand.

so many possibilities

Never saw a darn thing from it and was too much work to go back and get it.
