I wouldnt have killed it, thats a prime candidate for breeding 100%. No glory in wiping out a trophy with monster genetics when you can just keep breeding it out.

The other pic I've seen is a belly side shot, and it looks like 330 marks at the neck and chest, but I'll wait for more details before I say for sure what really caught it.

It's large size is most likely due to age.
Beaver keep growing their entire lives. I think the record came out of Wyoming; two beaver both well over 100 pounds, out of the same pond.

That'd be my guess. The biggest one I ever caught (by 15-20lbs bigger) came from a little spot I don't think anyone had ever trapped or at least not for a good many years.

The one pictured above is a real monster.

The two biggest beaver I have caught 63 & 68 pounds came out of a tiny creek maybe 10 feet across at the most and generally knee deep.

I read that the worlds record came out of Wyoming many years ago and topped 100 lbs. and that was when beaver were worth money. I think it was caught near Laramie early 1900s

The biggest I ever caught was 82 Lbs.

When I was a senior in high school there was a picture in a paper (probably the Wichita Eagle) of a beaver that had been caught in the Arkansas River that was over 100 Lbs. That would have been in 1969. I remember it well as I was trapping beaver and couldn't believe they got that big.

My take is that is just a regular 68 lb beaver being held by 4 ft tall leprechauns.

I wonder if there is any truth to this story; should be fairly easy to verify. At least if the mount actually exists.

I don't know if the news article posted is accurate. But it claims the largest beaver caught was 107 kilograms which is way bigger than this current beaver being discussed.

NOPE, I hope they had it mounted, but that would require a custom made form for certain!

That is the biggest I have seen. Many years ago the fur buyer here had one on a scale that pushed 80 lbs.

If 160user caught that he’d have to hire some neighborhood kids to carry it out otherwise he’d be there all day.

Set a 1.5 longspring on a muskrat float and tied to an overhanging branch. Caught a 30 lbs beaver in it. For a minute I knew I had just caught the new record B&C muskrat.

He (160user) is not the only one!!!

Neighbor caught an 80lb beaver a few years back. He said when he started to pull it of the water he thought it was bloated. Had to drag it over a quarter mile to the truck.

I've caught a couple that went 84 inches, but they weren't that big. I wonder what that would stretch?

A little wood and some beaver castor behind your ears and they will fall like a chewed tree in a wind storm.
