A few latent genes in that one from back when America had 600 lb beavers?

I wouldnt have killed it, thats a prime candidate for breeding 100%. No glory in wiping out a trophy with monster genetics when you can just keep breeding it out. You’re the man Matt!

I've asked my coworker for more details, he's looking for a little more information also. The other pic I've seen is a belly side shot, and it looks like 330 marks at the neck and chest, but I'll wait for more details before I say for sure what really caught it. I'll post more info when I get it.

It's large size is most likely due to age. Beaver keep growing their entire lives. I think the record came out of Wyoming; two beaver both well over 100 pounds, out of the same pond.

That'd be my guess. The biggest one I ever caught (by 15-20lbs bigger) came from a little spot I don't think anyone had ever trapped or at least not for a good many years. The one pictured above is a real monster.

The two biggest beaver I have caught 63 & 68 pounds came out of a tiny creek maybe 10 feet across at the most and generally knee deep.

I remember a Wichita radio station reporting many years ago that a man had trapped what he assumed was a mating pair out of the Arkansas River. Both were over 100 pounds, and this is the first story I have heard personally of another one even close to that size so obviously it happens but not very often.

When I was a senior in high school there was a picture in a paper (probably the Wichita Eagle) of a beaver that had been caught in the Arkansas River that was over 100 Lbs. That would have been in 1969. I remember it well as I was trapping beaver and couldn't believe they got that big.

My take is that is just a regular 68 lb beaver being held by 4 ft tall leprechauns.

I don't know if the news article posted is accurate. But it claims the largest beaver caught was 107 kilograms which is way bigger than this current beaver being discussed.

Neighbor caught an 80lb beaver a few years back. He said when he started to pull it of the water he thought it was bloated. Had to drag it over a quarter mile to the truck.

I don't know if the news article posted is accurate. But it claims the largest beaver caught was 107 kilograms which is way bigger than this current beaver being discussed. For us Americans... 107 Kilograms = 235.894621 Pounds Garry-

I wouldnt have killed it, thats a prime candidate for breeding 100%. No glory in wiping out a trophy with monster genetics when you can just keep breeding it out. ^^^ Where did this guy come from? Up north somewhere
If it makes a track on this earth , I can catch it.
