need to have one cross your path...
A humble thanks for the man who paid for my wife's groceries today because my kid is in the Army and to my wife who is a far better person than her old man. She posted what happened today earlier elsewhere. I'd thought I'd share. Merry Christmas to you one and all...
Today I was at Hyvee on Minnesota avenue getting groceries as we get ready to celebrate Christmas! My son A. is home for Christmas and I am so happy to have him home. I have missed all his birthdays, Easter, Thanksgivings and a Christmas also since he had been gone. He has been deployed for awhile and has done oversees training. I have not seen much of him since he started in the Army. So for me to have my boys both home and all of us together makes me so happy. I was telling the clerk ringing me up about this and how happy I am for this weekend and to have him home. My groceries rang up to $106.00 I went to pay with my credit card and the man behind me tapped his credit card and said please tell your son thank you for his service ! I said oh no that’s too much he said no thank you for his service. My mouth dropped I was in shock I said thank you so much! The lines were so long today but as I stood there and yep the tears just started rolling . I was ready to go.
And I said again thank you very much and the tears kept rolling. I couldn’t get past customer service And had to stop couldn’t see and so wiped the tears blew my nose got to the door the tears were rolling out faster and nose blow again. I couldn’t believe what just happened . I cried all the way to my van and sat there and just cried my eyes out! That’s a army mom emotional.
I’m happy go lucky he’s home but when I’m reminded what he does and how honorable it is I cry and that someone else realized too what our military give up to do their job. They leave their treasured friends they aren’t out hunting fishing with not seeing them on weekends they miss out on special occasions with them . They leave their families . They live in quarters that are less then ideal they do training that is challenging and difficult for many reasons . They go oversees for long periods of time for deployment or training. Their families worry and pray over them for their safety . If things break out and they are needed to provide military presence, safety , protection they are well trained and ready to do that for us. At any moment things can change in this world and they take that on and so do their families.
This man acknowledging my son was very overwhelming to me it is acknowledging all military who chose to do this for us.There are kind caring people in this world . Selfless people who offer a gesture and make a difference. Thank you to this gentlemen . I am thankful and moved by this beyond words. I wish I would of gotten a first name . I went out to my van and said thank you Lord for his kindness and bless him and his family . I cried most of the day . I won’t forget this. I try to do kind gestures as the opportunities present themselves to me and I will continue to try and pay it forward in some way. My youngest son will leave again after Christmas to go back to his base . I will continue to pray over him and look forward to the day I can see him again her his laughter see his smile . My heart always misses him when he goes back ! Thank you again to the stranger who reminded me of the power of a kind gesture. My heart is full from the kindness.

Great post NonPCfed. All people have good in them because all people are made in God's image (we all contain a glimmer of His characteristics), so this story of someone's gratitude towards a stranger resonates deeply in our hearts. And in the mother's heart of course.
Thank you!
Blessings,
Mark
