illinideer OP trapper Joined: Dec 2015 West Cent IL	Haven't been on the forum for a long time and not sure which forum to post this in. Got a late start trapping this year with all the deer hunting going on and have only had traps out a couple of weeks. I am on my 4th bobcat as of yesterday. Talked to our gamewarden about it and he's on num 3 now I believe. He told me they cant do anything he wishes they could but can't. I needed to contact my local state rep . So I did , asked them how many inquiries/complaints about the bobcat lottery and population in the last couple of years. Zero. was on the phone with them for 45 minutes they knew of the lottery system and that was about it. Their a beautiful animal but their becoming the new possum. jalstat trapper J Joined: Dec 2022 illinois	Yep Illinois bobcat tags are nothing but a money grab I quit participating and yes they are all over I asked this 100 times if you have a 500 cat quota let everyone participate and when 350 cats are caught say shut down season next week no different than with geese . By the time we pay 9 bucks for the tag 5 bucks for the cites that other states give you might as well sling them in the ditch

They must be low quality cats if you can’t cover $14 with the pelt. What’s an average bobcat bring out there? "I have two guns, one for each of ya."

jalstat trapper J Joined: Dec 2022 illinois	Bob you have to draw a tag 9 bucks = 1 cat plus the 5 buck cites it's not the 14 bucks it is if you don't draw they keep your money so if it takes 6 years to draw a tag that's 54 bucks all while antis draw a tag to save a cat all while the trappers without a tag have to release the cats we catch . Hope this makes sense they issue 1000 tags to get 500 cats they get about 350 . The rules are set by the politicos instead of the DNR.... Jon
