The upstate New York city of Buffalo on Tuesday filed a lawsuit in state court accusing major gun manufacturers of fueling violence through irresponsible marketing and sales practices.

Defendants in the lawsuit include Smith & Wesson Brands Inc, Beretta USA Corp, Bushmaster Firearms Industries Inc, Colt's Manufacturing Co LLC and Glock Inc. The city is seeking an unspecified money award to combat gun violence.

Bushmaster said in a statement that it had not fully reviewed the complaint but that "at first blush" it appeared "false." The other companies did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The case appeared to be the first time a city has sued major gun companies under a 2021 New York law that allows lawsuits against gun makers and sellers for creating a "public nuisance" through their business practices.

Buffalo claims that the gun companies created such a nuisance by marketing practices that emphasize the high capacity and ease of concealing their products, appealing to people with criminal intent; deliberately supplying more guns than needed in the legitimate market; and failing to take steps to stop illegal sales.

"Defendants' actions have created, maintained, or contributed to a condition in Buffalo that impacts the health and well being of us all," the lawsuit said.

Buffalo was the site of a racially motivated mass shooting in May that killed 10 Black people at a grocery store. The shooter used a Bushmaster rifle.

New York City is currently pursuing a lawsuit against distributors under the state public nuisance law seeking to halt sales of so-called ghost guns, kits of components that allow buyers to construct finished guns without serial numbers of background checks.

I'm glad your in a better place yotetrapper. I'm here with my aging parents that need my help. While I hate the politics that rule I will continue to stay, fight and vote.
The stupidity of the city mindset that rules NY and most cities and federal government continue to astound me.
I take solace in my trapping, hunting, and fishing that is incredible in my part of this democratically controlled NYS
It's too bad that politics have put a blight on this state with all the outdoor grandeur we possess.
This scourge seems to be slowly spreading across our once great nation. I hope your state can keep it at bay.

Outside the cess pools of Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany and NYC most of NY is a beautiful place. Ample hunting, fishing and trapping opportunities

Other than the big city liberal politics,,New York is a sportsmans paradise.

Buffalo NY is a crap hole. It's one f the most dangerous cities in the US. It's a typical, liberal-run US city. They taxed all the productive folks to the point those that could left decades ago and now the majority are welfare cases. They've been cutting city government services for decades while raising taxes to support the welfare class. They shut down many DMV centers, fired all the school janitors and made teachers clean their own rooms, limited public transportation...

The lawsuit is nothing but a desperate money-grab. From the article: "The city is seeking an unspecified money award to combat gun violence." That line is just a huge, steaming pile of bullcrap. If they win, which I doubt, they will set up special groups chaired by cronies to "study" the problem. Maybe they would hire a few more cops. In the end, after the money is gone, not a thing will have changed other than a few liberal bureaucrats and ranking politicians getting a little richer.

I agree that if it wasn't for the political situation, NY would be a great state. Much of it is incredibly beautiful. Good populations of many various furbearers and game animals to hunt and trap. A lot of snow, but the temps aren't extreme and there's not the everpresent wind you get in the midwest and further west which I hate.

BUT the politics permeate into everything. You can't even build a chicken coop on your own land without getting building permits from the government. We own the same amount of land here in MS that my grandmother owns in NY but our land taxes are 1/3 the cost... or I should say WAS 1/3 the cost since we no longer had to pay them at all once Pete turned 65. But NY has no problem extracting them from my 83 year old grandmother. Way back in the 90s it took people I know over 5 years to get a pistol permit in NY, here in MS we don't even need a permit to carry a pistol.

It doesn't matter how beautiful the land is if the laws of that land make the place a misery to live in.

This is more than suing the gun manufacturers...its also against the distributors. I vision liberal run cities all over the USA trying their hand at this. After all, the ultimate goal is to get guns out of our hands and this is just another tactic in their dirty book

I saw a clip on NewsMax this morning where AOC was getting reamed by some irate constituents. She was stumbling trying to form answers to their questions. They sure had her on the hot seat. NewsMax speculated that she was losing credibility with people from her district.

She was trying to backpedal on some statements she made about banning high capacity magazines.

If they did not dump her over driving away Amazon jobs just what would wake up those clowns?

Wind is a wonderful thing. Keeps you cool in the summer, and all the excess people driven away in the winter! lol

I wish that the wind would blow away the likes of Hockul, AOC, Schumer, and Gillibrand. Truth is there are a lot of dummies that keep voting them in.

Are they going to sue auto manufacturers and alcohol producers, especially those in their state.
