15 months after ordering, my suppressor was finally delivered. What is to be done with the All-Important Tax stamp ? Does it have to stay with the suppressor at all times or can it be filed away until needed for future items ?

My understanding they stay together for all of eternity.

Make a color 2 sided copy to carry with you in the field, and keep the original at home for safe keeping.

I keep a copy in my wallet and the original in a safe.


15 months ain’t bad. I’ve got three of them and the wait has gotten longer for every one I’ve bought. You’d think any subsequent paperwork after your first time should be faster since you’re already in the system and any red flags should have already popped.

But it is the government and the most tyrannical government agency we have.

I have yet to hear of anyone being asked for it, but different states have more ambitious leo than others I reckon.

E-forms don’t even send a physical stamp anymore the returned stamp is digital.

We need the hearing protection act. Do away with all this mumbo jumbo.

even better would be scrap NFA it is unconstitutional but they waited until anyone with a valid claim to contest it died of old age.

Unfortunately you have to go through the entire process for each one and the wait times are getting longer and longer as obviously they are dragging their feet on processing the paperwork.

I refuse to jump through all the hoops to buy something just because some bonehead in DC says so. This can and should be reversed.

Take a pic of stamp an keep it on your phone. Also have seen guys drill a hole in synthetic stocks and roll up stamp and slide in and cap the hole with something.

Not to mention the growing list of applications!

I went to am office supply place and had shrunk down 2 sided copies small enough to fit in my bill fold. The originals stay in fire safe. If you did e forms you can keep a copy in your email. Pictures or copies can also be accessed on your phone.

Keep your originals put up safely.

I use to think that way too Dave, until I realized I'm not getting any younger and they don't care if I get one or not. I was only punishing myself. Same with CC permit.

Only an IRS agent or a BATF agent can request your paperwork, Nobody else cares if you have a stamp. To be on the safe side, a picture on your phone and make copies and put in the glove box of all vehicles and gun cases.

Legally your right loe can't ask to see your tax documents. But it's easier to show them when asked that deal with an over zealous leo down town and geting your property back.

Normally it's not an issue but I have been asked for them once. They obviously had no idea of what they were looking at or the law. I showed them copies any way but forcefully corrected them when they tried to claim they needed to see originals not copies. Orange county Florida sheriffs department.
