Was an old local lady years and years ago.
I'd give her some filets, etc, and day or two later, she'd give me something tasty in return.
She once made a fish chowder, milk or maybe cream based , with chunks of potatoes and bacon that I STILL drool thinking about, many decades later.
She was a whiz with oysters, and snapping turtles too.

Great, now I'm drooling again..

Just look up about any New England clam chowder and substitute with fish, It's all pretty much the same,,The basics are butter, onions, potatoes and bacon and some kind of seafood with the juice or stock.a little flour to thicken and milk or cream at the end....

You can add anything else you want but that's the original style New England poverty food, lol

I'm gonna try Nessy's recipe with shrimp though.

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

I used to make a "poormans" chowder, poached crappie fillets in cream of chicken soup.
