Was going through some old stuff and found the booklet from the first convention I went to with my Dad when I was a kid. Just thought it was cool and wanted to share. Definitely makes me feel old.

Boy was that a hot one. We were camped in an area that had some kind of pool/pond deal with a fountain in it and we used it as a swimming hole at night, lol.

This was from that convention too.

Pete also wore those pink bibs to march around on stage with his Pedersen for President signs during Slim's demo, haha.

Proudly banned from the NTA.

Bother me tomorrow. Today I'll buy no sorrows.

It was indeed hot at that one, but was hotter in 83 when we had the Nats there at Hutchinson. I remember Russ Carmin saying to me, “when I stepped off that plane, I thought I was gonna die”! LOL.

Well it cooled down a bit. 16 here right now. Almost need a coat to stay outside an hour or two.

What a demo lineup

Flatlander94. If a 2006 convention makes you feel old you must still be pretty young wink

I wish I would’ve known then what I know now when it came to that demo lineup at the time and the knowledge/experience they have. I remember sitting in on Hal’s canine and Slim’s cat demo, soaking up every bit of information I could.

I’m 28 now and still feel wet behind the ears some days and still thankful to be able to run the line with dad each fall. smile

Was the farthest south west I have ever been. Recall it being 117 on the thermometer there at grounds. But it was a dry heat lol..
Got the honor of cooking some rattlesnake BulletBox brought. Nice clean grounds bus load trusty prisoners came in morning to clean it.

Had just got our tent set up when they blew the sirens and said everyone to the main building. Like a bunch of good rednecks we sat beside the tent and watched it roll in. It got so hot the blacktop was melting and sticking to your boots. We hoped they would open a prairie dog snaring contest but no go.

Broke in my new diesel pickup on that trip, made the fan clutch kick in.
Pulling the camper an Lil heat it broke right in on that trip.
Or it sure helped anyway

I was there! Pete in those pink bibs was hard to miss.

One of the nice things about that convention is that all the dealers were in one big building. Not spread out all over who knows where. I know that isn’t always possible, but it sure was a plus.

Only national I moved my tailgate stuff inside and paid for a booth. It was definitely a hot one.
