Yeah, that way we can pay for the damages. After we already bought the truck, traps, fourwheeler and argo.

So in MN you need a permit to remove a beaver dam? Or do you only need one if it causes a flood? Do you beaver trappers get a permit from the DNR to remove beaver dams?

Right, it sucks to have to pay for the equipment and expenses of the competition that is beating you out of beaver management contracts.

Blandin had plenty of guys trapping on them when prices were up, they permitted guys to get in where needed, no big deal. Since the markets have tumbled the USDA has gotten the nod.
I would think the USDA has a blanket coverage on their activities, the guys shooting deer in the Minnesota suburbs nightly are covered so I’d think it all is.
On these waterway/dam issues that are larger scale like the one above I’m surprised a bond of some sort isn’t involved?

Maybe now those same guys that were permitted to trap when prices were up will be paid to remove nuisance beaver.

From google

Under the FTCA, the federal government acts as a self-insurer, and recognizes liability for the negligent or wrongful acts or omissions of its employees acting within the scope of their official duties.

It's like hogs down here.

There are literally dozens if not hundreds of us who want in the game. But hog traps and gear is expensive. 5-10k to get set up.

Yet, USDA, state Dept of Ag, local Soil and Water Boards are offering low and no cost trapping to landowners.

But that is driven by the Farm Bureau lobbyists.

Maybe. I have never known Blandin to offer money, just privileges. Then again my dealings with them are limited and I speak only from personal experience.

You would think, but that would require the landowners to now pay for something they used to get for free.

The big landowners have lobbyists, trappers don't.

I am pretty sure the timber companies pay USDA to remove beaver. And dams, lol.

Yes, they do but never market price. It is always a cost share program.

That's our federal and state taxes stolen from us to offer subsidy services to private market producers.

Wrong on so many levels.
