Did about 30 beaver mid oct.
Marten will go to the auction the rest to the tannery and self tan all the weasels and a few small beaver.

Awesome

Sometimes the rate is high. Five years ago, with only thirty some boxes out on a fresh snow, I had seven fisher refusals on one check. When checking 70-80 sets with snow I expect one or two refusals every check. We like to tell ourselves that the animal will return and we'll have it the next check.

Me and a friend both noticed something this year. We had a big snow and the boxes were completely covered with snow. Fishers & marten were all over and all around the boxes but none of them dug into the entrance. Weasels did tunnel in.

BTW, a few years ago I put trail cameras on foothold sets for marten & fishers. I stopped doing it because the photos showed at least two or three animal visits to the set where the animal was not caught for every catch.

2 or 3 visits = 1 catch

I have some of the wooden pans MN sold. Some fishers will get the bait without springing the trap with a horizontal pan. The first photo shows my current preferred method. Second photo is how to set a pan that will miss some fishers. I keep the bait close to the trap and a fisher will just stretch out its neck and get the bait without springing the trap.

Thanks for the reply, I tried wood and barkers for mink, it was tough for me to get large numbers of mink to commit to a baited cubby so don’t know what worked better. Do you get mink in your setup? When I was in Marten country I would get Marten in mink sets. Wasn’t using any cubbies then, did the leaning pole to get Marten.

Sure does. Nothing bigger than a 155 will fit in & a trap set more than 0.75" from the end of the trap slot meets the 18" setback requirement. The sides are 24" long

Plus, they work

Open that box up for a photo please...
..doesn't have to be that one. Just show the box's set up with trap set

I'll get you some photos tomorrow.

Thank You
