Really enjoyed Jim Spencer's editorial in the newest issue of The Trapper. Basically a reflection of his lifetime of trapping starting as a kid on his bicycle and continuing into the present. He expressed the feeling that he gets with each catch he makes and even though he has done it his whole life, it is still as exciting and gratifying as when he started. Really hit home with me, as I feel exactly as he does.

Jim is one of those gifted writers who can, in a couple of paragraphs, transport the reader as if they are standing next to Jim watching the scene unfold. It is a rare talent to be able to write like that. Jim's a good trapper, good writer, and a good representative for trappers.

Gerald, you got that right. I went back to 8 years old with golashes checking rat traps and running home to catch the school bus. Santa got me a pair of hip boots for Christmas, and I was ready to trap the world!

I had the pleasure of sharing a cabin at Lake of the Woods with Jim way back in 1993 I believe it was. Interesting guy who was already a well established writer at that time and I was just getting started compared to today.

Jim has always been one of my favorite writers. I spent the best part of a day with him and his lovely wife a few years back.
I found him to be a very nice guy and easy to talk to. It was a pleasure roaming around the woods with a guy that loves the woods as much
as I do.

Mac

Met Jim at one of the past Minktoberfests. I agree with the comments above.

I got to spend an evening with Jim and His wife Jill at their home in Arkansas. Long story short, we met in the woods while I was on a bow hunting trip. He wrote about this trip in “Trapper and Predator Caller” a short time after we met. I agree with the comments above. He showed us Yankees how to put on a good old southern catfish fry. Very grateful for that time.

I spent a day with Jim in Arkansas when he was trapping mink in the early 1990's. It was a day I will never forget, he caught 21 mink the day I went along. We had a lot of laughs.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.
