Ever seen one? Shot by a friend of a friend not far from me. I sure would like to see it in person

Never have nor heard of. Wow. I wonder if it’s pure bobcat or got some other kitty genes mixed in?

Isn’t it? I’d have the best cat taxi in the country getting that one done for the trophy room. Challenge would be to choose the best pose to show off the subtle markings.

That one is a home run in the taxidermy market!

I have nothing clever to put here.

Caught one with red spots instead of black, one time, years ago. Seems I remember a discussion on here several years back about a black colored bob. Just remember some chat about it, don’t remember what was said. Prolly about 4-5 years back.

There was a guy I knew that had what he called a kitty-bob. He claimed it was a cross between a feral house cat and a bobcat.
I saw it. It had long legs, too long for a domestic cat and a bob tail. It was straw-colored. And it acted like a wild animal, very skittish.

I remember that chat and thought then it was amazing, back in the 80s there was a taxidermist I sometimes sold stuff to that had a white one mounted in his showroom and I thought that was pretty amazing, don’t know whatever happened to him or it, but the two of those together would be a fantastic display

I caught one in early 80's that was about 75% as black as the one pictured. Sold him to Plott Fur Co.

That is a Melanism gene. I have a picture of a black bobcat I think came from PA. Kinda like the opposite of albinos. That a real trophy.

Really makes it hard to see if th cat has a nice clear belly! I wonder if skinned if there would be different pigmentation spots on the pelt to denote if there were hidden spots or not.

I know of a guy who caught a black one with hounds in Oklahoma years ago, I remember seeing pictures of it when I was a kid.
