Looking around wally world a little bit ago , they have a Henry 30-30 ,blue steel , straight stock , with no side gate. I can't find it in the Henry website , could this be a run just for Wal-Mart? Or has anyone else seen one?

New Old stock
the henry didn't used to have a side loading gate , they were pull the tube drop rounds in and replace tube
nothing wrong with it , but doesn't lend it's self to top off loading well.
you can still load from the front on the side gate models
they discontinued making 2 different steel receivers is all , it wouldn't surprise me if Walmart made a deal to buy up the old stock and or they just have one that has been int he back room for a while
if the side loading gate isn't important to you , and you want it , just check that is has the features you do want like if you want it drilled and tapped for a optic or peep sight.

I think Henry is way over priced. They say made in America but they still have parts on their rifles made of plastic. I was reading they have metal barrel band replacements and sight replacements to get rid of the plastic parts people didn't like.

I actually like the solid side better ,might buy it. It's drilled and tapped for scope mounts, straight stock, regular lever,no John Wayne loop.which I hate. Thanks guys.

My dad bought he and I a Henry single shot in .350 legend. Prettiest gun I own and by far the most gun I have for their asking price. I would not hesitate for a second on anything Henry makes. I can't speak for all models but I have yet to see plastic on any of their guns.
Made in America or not made at all is exactly the type of company I want to support these days. I keep hearing about plastic parts on their rifles too,I got a Golden Boy in 17 HMR and their medium bore chambered in 38/55.The 38/55 is in layaway but I looked it over good before hand and I can't find the plastics others talk about in either gun.

I like Marlins much more, but I have a few friends who swear by their Henry rifles. Not having a side gate is annoying if you are used to them.

Son in Law has a henry in 357 magnum. I shot it some not long after he got it. I dont remember if it has a gate or not but we were hitting pretty good with it. his rifle is the shiny brass one
