Nice! I’ve got a line on getting permission to trap an otter maybe next season. There are very few places to catch them here, but my boss knows the landowners who own one of those spots and he said he could get me on it. Hopefully I’ll catch my first one next season

One of my favorites to catch. You're right, it never gets old.

OPEN water? That is cheating!
I have nothing clever to put here.

OPEN water? That is cheating! I kinda wish we had ice. This mid 30s, muddy mess sucks.

That is a wonderful sight !
How many times did you look at an empty set...before connecting ?

How many times did you look at an empty set...before connecting ? Every 3 days since the beginning of December. Not too bad.

Very nice. Congratulations.
57 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

That's cool. Nice when you can make that work. Not sure what your stake is? Does look like something that if I stuck in like that around here. Beaver probably come cut it off for me.

Mac Stakes are fresh cut, pretty sure they are maple. No beavers around here. We get the odd one every couple years. Those are just stabilizer stakes, the trap is cabled to a 24 inch rebar stake driven in the bank.

They come to my house ..here in NH for any sealing of fisher and otter. We used have to meet with a warden, but not anymore. We register it over the phone and they mail the tag out.
