Big changes for me, what's your advice on trail cameras?

I don't know, Bernie. If you still have 30 or 35 Covert's on hand, I don't see it as a crisis.

LOL Yeah I guess I don't consider it a crisis, but it is part of how I make my living.

I've been running all Brownings for a few years. I don't rely on them as much for YouTube as you do, but they work well. I know several people using Tactacam and they love them. Exodus seems to have good stuff, but it is hard to get. They do have a great 5 year warranty.

You’re not “looking” for a trail camera, you’re looking to pimp someone’s product, lol.

If you have cell coverage, I’d go with a cell camera. Leave no scent, know exactly when a bear/deer is there, probably can watch a client make a kill, etc.
If you’re wanting to save money, go with Tasco. Decent pics and at $32 a camera, you could by a lot of them.

I'm just gonna take a wild guess and say you didn't watch the video before commenting.

I did. You don’t like Coverts since they switched owners and you’re looking for another camera now. Why I don’t know. You already have cameras. If they don’t sponsor and you don’t care just keep using them. Doesn’t make sense to quit using something that has been working for you unless you were just using them for their sponsorship. Now that they don’t want to pay you’re looking for something else.
I gave options

He did say that he was not looking for a new sponsorship, and that since Feredyne bought Covert they dropped the models he liked and lowered quality (typical Feredyne playbook) so he doesn't want to get more Coverts. He needs more cameras and is looking for options. Gave his reasons for not wanting a cell cam for bears, which I get.

Bernie - Covert was based a couple counties from me. They were good cameras but I won't buy one now either since they were gobbled up by Feredyne. I wish the Exodus cams were easier to get, but they always seem to be sold out of standard cams and only have cell cams in stock. The Brownings I'm using are fairly easy to get and take good video which I use for my own use and for YouTube.

I have Tactacam and only run one or two on a cell plan. The others are run as a plain trail cam. Fantastic night video on low flash. You will probably have to activate them first then suspend to use them as a plain cam. I don't keep antenna on the non cell cams. Just put the plug that comes with them on the antenna hole. Also they run just fine on alkaline batteries.

You could go old school and use awesome woodsman skills to hunt deer based on habitat and sign but I suppose that doesn’t work well in the social media world.

Last trail cameras I used were several years ago and they were Brownings. Easy to use and provided good pictures and video.

Outside of the elements and bears, I think the hardest thing on cameras is manipulating the switches/controls. Mine always seem to fail after pulling a card and that's part of what I'm hoping to avoid with cell cams. The hundred dollar Walmart Bushnell cameras have treated me pretty good but they're still a crapshoot. I've owned several but you never know when you're going to get a dud. I ordered a Browning Defender yesterday.

Ive used the coverts cell camaras for quite a few years but have been switching to Cuddeback, and the main reason you can put up to 16 camaras on one cell plan

Lol.

Yep...folks could go all the way back old school and use bow and arrows or spears...or a rock...

Good reply Bernie!
