Nicely done...there have been many a yote caught in tire sets over the years. Yotes like mans waste as theses cause a conditioned stimulus and they will almost always hunt these areas. . Pavlov proved this with his salivating dogs and the ringing of the bell with food. AS a Nebraska trapper I am sure you never pass up a tank whether its used or dried up and abandoned.
For what it worth, I have never liked the step down. Seems like a gimmick to me that was invented for rendezvous demos. Primarily, I don't like it as the scent is kept far below the surface of the ground, and if it's freezing the scent is trapped there as heavier cold air pushes down on the warmer ground air. Second, if you put a lure on top of the grounds indentation/hole often the yote will rub its face on it and move on. Third it takes along time make. For the time you put in one step down I can flood the area with three dirt holes, all with different scents. Not to mention one set will have lots of urine.

larry, yer on to something!

I will point out that in a nonfreezing environment, think early season around here, they have their place! I like them more for fox than yotes, but you can sure guide a foot with a stepdown, and it’s a good change up when they are walking by. Going back to the freezing conditions, it’s a bigger deal with snow and ice, as it will cover the set and pretty much seal the hole up. But they can really do the job at times. I also agree that they take longer to put together, but with some coyotes, a change up is all it takes.
