The main issue I've had with statins in now my ratio to good and bad cholesterol and overall numbers are perfect according to my check ups. One of my brothers who is of the opinion that statins are bad now has clogged carotids and is at risk of a stroke.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

12 years of Lipitor. No issues.
My in laws are “internet” doctors in their spare time. They quit taking them and blamed them for all their ills. They are in their 70’s. They think everything is a conspiracy though.

I’ve been on statins for over 30 years. Take Co q 10 with it. Puts back good stuff the statin takes out. Watch for joint pain also.

lipitor caused severe leg pain issues for me.
Other Statins were the suspected cause of several bouts of Angio Edema for me I had to stop taking them.

Started taking them, not because of bad cholesterol but because of diabetes. I was getting leg cramping and the dr said to take it every other day. When I remember to take it, I still get leg cramps, I just walk ‘em off cause they apparently ain’t going away.

I was started on Crestor about 5 months ago as my southern diet had caught up to me. After two months Crestor was kicking my but. It wa as low dose but I felt achy and tired. My joints hurt all the time. I called my dr and told them I had quit taking them and two weeks my issues had clearly themselves up. They put me on Zocor which I have been on for three months. So far my cholesterol levels are perfect. The only red flag was my Alt(?) which I was told is an indoor liver function. It was elevated but not too crazy. I’m am to go back next in two months and do blood again to check it. I have had no other I’ll effects from the Zocor.

I’ll definitely check into the coq10. I have elevated levels of what is called fibrogin antigen,,, those buggars have something to do with overactive clotting activity.. normal range is 350,, I’m at 544…. From what I’ve read, alll kinda different things can contribute to them being jacked up,,,,, acute stress( which I’ve certainly had my fair share of) infection, injury, and your arteries getting stiff,,,, I read that although statins can help cholesterol,, it contributed to arteries getting stiff,,, and I guess it’s banned in Europe

Been on Lipitor for a long time, probably 40 years. Thorough blood work annually and all systems are still a go.
