I have this ramp and I really like it. It works great for things like loading my atv & brush mower in the truck or trailer.
I need a snowmobile ramp but I'm afraid the carbide wear rods will significantly damage the aluminum ramp. How do you snowmobilers avoid that issue? I realize most trailers have a well functioning tilt feature. My old trailer does tilt but the tilt feature doesn't work as well as it should.

Can you just put a piece of plywood on top of your ramp to protect in when loading your snowmobile?

They will tear the aluminum, I put 1/4 flooring underlayment on mine and that works pretty good.

the clearance of the ramp is a problem when putting plywood on them and closing them up
we found some skins that go on the skis which was good till someone saw them and they sprouted wings in the back of the parked truck and flew away.

The rubber is just grabbed by the skis and the ends flip up and a 3 ring circus happens fast.
and it is always a tail light going twinkle-twinkle look at the little star !

You can attach ski glides/carbide protectors right on the ramps. My snowmobile ramps came with them installed, you can buy them from amazon or a snowmobile trailer website.

Those ramps look just like mine and along each side is a channel that you can put pieces of 1/4"plywood. They will still fold up.

That might work for the ramp (although it's a fold-up ramp), but I also wonder about avoiding tearing up the truck bed. I finally got my snowmobile fixed after being buried in the garage for 10 years.
'Planned on getting it done last year but got a year behind due to health reasons.

I put plastic skis on my snowmobile so the ski skins I had on my old metal skis might work for this, hmm..

Best thing I found is go to the snowmobile graveyard and get a couple old snowmobile tracks for next to nothing.Attach Strips of them to your ramp.Great traction even if snowy out,and wont hurt your ramp.Buddy of mine that used to repair snowmobiles showed me that trick.

Not a bad idea. I wonder what the trick is to get the snowmobile back out of the truck though if you don't have a smooth surface to slide/pull it on

!/2 inch plywood.
Some of those tri fold ramps have slots to slide in the plywood.

Ski slips & ski boots: 2 options I found on the Snowest forum. The ski slips seem better although I've heard that a person might need extra straps in case they break. The eBay link is for ski boots & will work if you copy and paste it in your browser.

If you can find an old bed liner, cut long pieces for the skis and cut a piece or two with the ribs crossways for traction, screw to plywood and lay over ramp when loading and unloading. You will have to attach a stop or chains so the plywood will stay in place.

Put 2 strips of an old box liner on it where the skis go, the grooves hold the carbides in and the skis slide up like crazy. Works great.
