What lure stick do I use ? Why ? Which is best ? As you see in pics. I use 2 different lure sticks. 1 is under 3 inch with a pencil sharped end the other end is frayed with hammer or plyers. The second is = 6 inch wooden cotton swab. 2 different lure sticks ? Why? The cotton holds up better in = Alabama rainy weather. Plus. With bad ants. The 6 inch cotton lure stick allows me to = Get lure stick just a tad higher in grass clump. SO with it higher it is less affected by ants. I use a different lure stick for different situations. Hope this helps. Easier to do here with pic. Than to do without pic in a PM

OK. Forgot about = Plain old q tips ? This is what James Lucero uses. When i took lessons from him. He did not care for the = sharpened bamboo sticks with frayed ends. Why? He like the simple way of = Just keeping q tips in his pocket for lure stick. So i aslo use a few q tips IF i can get them to go in ground. Why not use = Q tip all the time? Well here is my thinking. Hard ground? If i have to stab ground with screwdriver then put Q tip in ground ? The wooden Q tips that are 6 inch work better for me. BUT. IF you can find some ol tan coolered pill bottles or the tall green ones. Their great to store Q tips in!

Wooden golf tees work good too! Lure holds well in the little cup at top…

Wooden Q-tips or wooden popsicle sticks work great for lures and baiting a set and you can store them in the big mouth power drink bottles.

These look like the ticket for bait but the price is probably a deal breaker.

I must be real old school, if I need or want a stick I just find one from the set area. Golden Rod stems work nice if you need such a thing for applying lure or bait.

Actually they're a lot cheaper than the scent eggs/grub stakes solid by trap supply vendors.

Bamboo chopsticks are the cheapest deal in town if you have the time. 1000 pairs of chopsticks from Ebay will be around 25 dollars to your door thats = 2000 ——10 inch sticks. SO cut into 3 inch plus pieces. Thats 6000 lure sticks. You just need to fray ends with hammer and use a pencil sharpener to make pointy end. It works great. I simply no longer have time for that

I'm with Bob Jameson, Golden Rod is my choice.
Can be gathered during season. Easily restocked on the line or saved for next season. Cut into right size pieces.

Keep them with your tool bag, lure bag or in your pocket

I just bust off a pencil sized limb. I am always trapping in the timber and there are plenty of dead limbs or sticks available.

I’d think Q-tips would hold scent longer or something frayed on the end to soak and hold. Right now I’m just using dog fennel.

I just carry a butter knife in my bait bag, scoop a little lure and smear it on the backing, wipe it off on the dirt next to the backing and done

Q tip is going to be the best.
