I did a little bunny hunting this afternoon , I didn't get a bunch but that is ok, a friend wanted a couple to eat. I need to buy a cheap scope the old eyes aren't what they used to be. Hard to do head shots

Awesome, I put a bsa classic on my single shot .22 squirrel rifle probably more than ten years ago I've never had it loose zero very impressed with it, paid like 30 bucks for it. Anyhow good job on the bunnie's.

The place I have to hunt has a ton of bunnies , just need to take a scoped one next time or get a scope put on the old 77, its only 5 miles from town

Hard to find them here. I shot a couple last year and almost felt bad they are getting so scarce.

Between the hawks, owls and coyotes we dont have the rabbits we used to. They dont spend much time out in the open in daylight either. Used to get quite a few of them back in the 80s.

X2 same way here in southwest WI. I think the eagles and hawks take far more than the Coyotes. if I saw a rabbit in the wild I wouldn't shoot it. They're a novelty here.

Ive been saving my rabbits at my place for a late winter hunt to take my boy with. Itll be pretty simple-they run around on top if the 7 ft tall drifts. Been a long time since ive eaten rabbit. Awesome memories of dad driving me around past farm places looking for rabbits sitting in the snow. He would pull into the farm place and i would go knock on the door to ask permission. 2 lessons at once.

I saw 3 today while out trapping, got one with the rifle but it was pretty shot up so I'll use it for mink and weasel bait. I've never tried rabbit but might if I had the chance.

How do you hunt rabbits? Just walk around until you see one? I always see tracks when checking coyote snares, but every time I see a rabbit they are moving at mach 2 and zig zag all over.

Yep walk slow and keep an eye out, some guys use a shotgun, but I use a .22 and go for head shots

No rabbits here,just the varying hare.
I set snares for them when out on the trapline.
Good eating and a reliable source of meat.No extra work when out on the line.

rabbit is delicious slush. cotton tails, not those jack rabbits you have so many of. I like them braised. You can google recipes.

My gramma would bone out young jacks. the ones she could skin without a knife. Then grind it and add pork fat a little water and sausage spice, its pretty good fixed like that if you can get some good fat.
