On the February 2023 cover, the painting of the otter does not appear to have the correct feet. The feet look like they belong to a rodent like a muskrat.

When I got my magazine I was also wondering what I was looking at. Feet were wrong for otter. Looked like muskrat feet also. Then thought mink but unlike any I caught. Thank for clearing that up.

Does look like Muskrat feet. I took a pic next to a Goodman print I have. Either way Fur Fish Game always has the coolest covers.

That remark seems prejudiced toward people without
access to proper dental care.

Whats next, a wise crack about how this
southern otter mated with his sister to
produce a genetic mutation ? laugh

Andrew Hutchinson is the artist. Looks like he lives in UK. Also looks like FFG uses a lot of his pics for cover art.
