Colorado already has. Several city ordinances already have bans. So far its been blocked in the legislature. One of my nephew's was here this spring. Lives in Denver. Denver has an AR ban. Bought a bunch of 30 round mags and was talking pretty serious about buying a new AR. He did not buy the rifle though. We were looking at ammo too but did not find any that was priced reasonable.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

It can be beat if someone challenges it, not even 95% liberal Washington D.C. could defend their gun ban.

The thing is, there needs to be punishment for those who illegally ban them so this doesn't keep happening.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

Some states have banned possession of assault guns/magazines for a while now....nothing was grandfathered in some of those states. Law enforcement in those states enforce those laws...

I don't know if all those states have had their laws reversed, but I know California has.

Maryland being challenged and with the SCOTUS ruling, it should be reversed too.

Assault Weapons Laws (California and Federal Law). Link to cali AG website:

https://www.oag.ca.gov/ogvp/fed-assault-weapons-ban

California law currently bans certain assault weapons by specific type, series, and model and also by the firearm’s general characteristics as set forth in the three categories below. (Pen. Code, § 30510.) California law also generally prohibits the sale of large-capacity magazines (i.e., magazines able to accept more than ten rounds). (Pen. Code, § 32310.)

It will go down too, that's why I said that the people who do this should be held accountable when its illegal for such laws. They know it won't pass muster.

New York rifle club SCOTUS ruling has been since then, and those laws will lose if challenged, imo.

We can hope all these laws get overturned but it seems like there are more states on the ban list every year instead of less.

Any law in reality relies on compliance...You can pass all the laws you want, but mass disobedience nullifies a law.

I've heard of a tea tax......

X2, NY requires so called Assault rifles to be registered if they meet morons in Albany definitions. Estimated over 1 million AR in NYS and the State Police after 9 years , still will not release the number of AR registered in NY. Some estimate less than 40,000, and they are mostly Law Enforcement. Looks like mass civil disobedience to me .

keeping guns in a safe or burying them is not civil disobedience. How many people loaded up and stood outside the capitol with those firearms? That would be civil disobedience.

Embrace the reality of things....then change can become possible.

Always the same blame the law abiding citizens. Being from Illinois this is my assessment of Pritzker. His dad fell over dead at 39 playing tennis JB was 7 years old terrible yes but probably the best thing that ever happened to him because instead of maybe having to learn the hotel business from the ground up you’re suddenly magically rich and have had everyone sucking up to you your whole entire life. He doesn’t know what work is or how regular people live. It’s pretty ironic you want to do away with cash bail but make the law abiding criminals… Jon

96% of NY AR owners are not registering according to the SAFE Act, so what do you call that ?

Talk is cheap, no one in this country is ready now or the near future to storm the bastille, locked and loaded, not even you.

We were not talking about storming anything and I have no plans to storm anything to protest a state's laws that are unconstitutional unless it is the state I reside within. I left ny state last century because of what it had become.
I was stating that civil disobedience requires that the government know your not following that law. Not registering a gun that the government does not know you have and never taking that gun out of your home into the public domain where people can view it is not civil disobedience as I understand it. It is simply not complying with the required registration.

Sounds like a firearm registry to me:

Last year, President Joe Biden and U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland announced they were planning measures to tackle stabilizing braces as well as "ghost guns" - a type of firearm that is assembled by users and practically untraceable.

While Democrats in Congress have pushed aggressively for new regulations of stabilizing braces, most Republicans have opposed such measures, portraying them as an infringement on Americans' constitutional gun rights.

The new rule gives owners, manufacturers and distributors 120 days to report their stabilizing braces to the ATF tax-free. They may also remove the stabilizing brace or turn in any pistol modified by a stabilizing brace to the ATF.

It goes into effect once it is published in the Federal Register, likely next week, department officials said.
