Regarding odds of being murdered while in church versus while driving to church. I arm myself more in the interest of saving others.

I agree. Church shootings are rare, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

My new car has a button for pretty much everything. Even has one that says rear wiper. Still too afraid to try that one.

Carry all the time, including my own wedding in MD, where concealed carry for PA resident will get you thrown in jail. At the time I was an active police officer and had my badge.
My Pastor carries in church....

Nowadays, Church weddings/funerals in NY, MD, or NJ gun stays at home. But "non-lethal" devices are close by.

I carry all the time- carrying right now at work. Because i carry all the time I have a pistol on me when I see skunks, possums, raccoons, ect and I shoot them as I see them.

As far as church shootings. Not in my church. A shooter would be clobbered before he got to where he wanted to get too. He would die in the parking lot more than likely.

Just passin through

In the same vain, a pastor at a church my wife and I attended for a very short time was adamant that nobody carry while attending his church. One of the congregation asked him what he would do if a miscreant showed up at church with gun leveled all set to kill? His answer was that he himself would take the first bullet. Another church member then asked about the next 14 bullets in the magazine of the killers gun plus the extra magazines fully loaded in his pocket. At that point the pastor was speechless. Found a different church soon after.

Chris

I had a former pastor in Alaska fly me up to do some work on a home he was building. He was a man I'm sure would have taken a bullet in his effort to share the gospel with someone intent on doing him harm. After I finished up the work, he gave me a car so I could take a few days to go see my old stomping grounds. He handed the car keys and a 9mm. He didn't want me taking a bullet.
