I’m not on Facebook, but the wife is. Can you give me a link to the Facebook account, or PM it to me?

Unfortunately the man that makes the best trumpet calls around passed away last year. I'm sure there are others out there, but I've never seen or heard one that compared to his. Beware of commercially made calls

Gotta live up to the nickname...

Daryl Gosey in NC makes a nice and affordable trumpet. Midwest turkey call had them but I havent looked recently.

I have his osage/bocote but prefer a wing bone and cane yelper over the trumpet.

Notice the wooden thing on the sleeping turkey…that’s a Trumpet call. That particular one is made by Lee Chadwick of Misfire Game Calls. That particular call accounted for 3 Eastern’s and 2 Merriam’s all worked and killed by my son.

I’d protect that Farmer call at all cost. I’d rather lose my gun than a trumpet made by him.

So they are similiar to a wingbone call for calling in fall juvenile poults ?

As far as sound, it’s nothing like a pot, box, or diaphragm. In all honesty it doesn’t sound very turkey like you might be used to, BUT it will kill turkeys when nothing else will. That sound may be why it works so well, I guess you could say it’s “pure” turkey.

Yes they operate like a wing bone. They work great in the spring also.

I agree. They sound more like a turkey at a distance but not so much up close.

If you're good at running them they sound great, but for me they shine in the fall I've used slate and diiafram calls with no response and then my wingbone or trumpet and had them respond right back.

So what you guys are calling a trumpet call is basically a wing bone call made of something other than wing bones?

I've been making my own wing bone calls for years from the wild turkeys I kill.
