Finally put out a few traps -- 4 days check - 31 nutes , 3 possum, 2 mink, 1 beaver, 1 skunk, and 1 muskrat -- couple more days and I will pull and hopefully move to another property. No coon which surprises me. The beaver was 28 lbs and was stupid enough to stick its head in a 220. So far a nice few days.

I had 2 doubles - sort of. 1 - I had 2 kit nutes in a single 220 and one of the mink was dragging a dead nute through it.

Good for you Dave!

My missus is headed south tomorrow so that means I can finally really get after it. Look out to the river and maybe you'll see me! grin

Didn't know you came this far north -- don't take too many of my beaver as I haven't even started to chase them yet. grin

only 4 nutes and a muskrat today -- slowing down -- but an otter chewed the back end of one of the nutes (hopefully will have it tomorrow) and got to watch a nute run into one of my 220s today.

Nutria, we don't have them either, lol.

Nutria -- giant water rat. Not good for much or profitable - but by tomorrow night i might know what nutria jerky tastes like. I usually get around 100 per year.

A trapper brought some nutria summer sausage to an OTC sale some years back and it was fantastic.

that is good to know -- i fried up a couple of pieces last year (just to say i've tasted it) and it tasted like meat to me. Of course I have no sense of smell so my sense of taste is severely diminished. It is getting a little old having to ask the wife or daughter if I stink every time I get close to a skunk.

Let me know if you need a pet one or 3 --- the young ones aren't that hard to catch by hand.

And they have their young pretty much year round.

If you are going to make jerky out of them make sure you remove all the fat. Iy has a nasty taste. The meat itself has a nutral flavor. Your seasoning is most of the flavor.

For those who do not know what a nute looks like
