I'd like to hear the thoughts from some seasoned cat trappers out there on their preferred length of time they let a set work before they pull it and find another location.I've been going at it steadily since the opener here in Idaho, I've got 32 sets I'm checking every 3 days, sometimes I'll check em after two days. Our season opened the 14th of December and runs until February 14th. I caught two smaller cats the first two days of the season and have had a couple traps set off. I'm mainly running all walk throughs with a few modified cubby/walk through sets. The weekend of Christmas we had two pretty big snowstorms back to back where I noticed I had cats extremely close to a few of my sets but just didn't commit. It was nearly blizzard like conditions so maybe they just couldn't pin point the sets due to everything being covered in 6+ inches of snow and the wind ripping through the canyon. The snow has all receded and been melted off with rain, how often should I re-lure my sets after rain? I'm using gland, urine and bait but I've noticed they definitely don't have the same kick after a drizzley day of rain. I'm running about a 17 mile stretch of canyon on the Snake River and setting in most draws that are accessible that come down. Curious to hear some opinions, leave them where they are and keep re-luring/baiting or pull em and find another location?

Live holding sets i would not go more than 2 days.
Lethal sets with multiple snares-5 to 7 days is good.

Thanks boco, I meant to ask about the duration of time before you would pull a set or leave it for the duration of the season and let it work.

For our western cats sometimes it takes an old Tom 6 weeks to make his rounds. For younger toms and females, it can take 3 weeks for a bobcat to make its way back to a particular spot.

If you felt good about your sets leave them, up here in the panhandle my sets are there for the season, a big tom might only come by once, lure lasts a long time, I change baits every 2 weeks defending on temp

If you set on sign, leave 'em be!

Perfect, sounds like they're going to ride the season out then. I'll try switching it up a bit with my lures, maybe move a few around to see if that peeks any new interests. Thanks for the replies fellas!
