Yes. I feel a majority of my cats are attracted with a skunky lure at or above their eye level.

As it is often below 0 here when cat trapping I like a good loud skunky lure, placed up a bit higher than I am liable to lean on or grab. I have tried a few and made some myself. I can't say any one did any better, but have settled on Reuwsaat's Fatal Breath Long Call, simply because in my temps it is more like axle grease than frozen lard or too watery. It just is easier for me to apply and not have any drip off onto the bottle.

Interesting. I didn't realize there was a difference between Backbreaker and skunky Backbreaker

Mint is another odor that seems to keep working in low temps.

Mint? Ill be. Which mint Lazarus? Peppermint, spearmint? Do you mix with the skunk as well?

E.J.:

Spearmint does for sure, probably others as well. I use a lot of O'Gorman's PRCC and it has a powerful mint smell to it. I don't actually know if the mint is attractive, or if it acts as a carrier for the other odors in the lure.

The mints carry well and I’m convinced have a decent degree of attraction by themselves, they are in the same family as catnip.

Tommy Pace told me I should add fennel oil to my Purrrfect. I tried it, but didn't see any difference in it's attractiveness to bobcats or grey foxes. I sent some to Bulletbox to try, and he wanted to know why I wanted to ruin a perfectly good lure. LOL, loved that old fart.

Good info

And whatever attractants I use, I want to ensure I don't put too much out
