In 1982 I was 11, probably 5th grade. Following my dad and great grandad around running a few traps and trying to keep up when they were running hounds after coons on a Friday night
Only time remembering ever getting laid off at work, spent the 2 weeks at camp in may and shot my first spring gobbler. Third one I called in, missed the first two!! Went down to phone booth in nearest town to call my girlfriend who also relayed back to me she was pregnant ! That kid will be 40 in a couple days!!!

When I got home from the road, wife and me would often go to the Hickory Inn Ottawa KS. KS didnt have bars. Only private clubs and taverns that sold only beer. 18 was the age for drinking beer and not many kids hung out at the Hickory. A lot of times I would be entered in the pool tournament. Put stuff like this on the juke box

When this song came out it got played enough I got sick of it. Seems like at least every hour WDAF 61 country would play it. Guy that owned the Hickory had em take it out of his juke box. A few were disappointed but I was not one of them.

I was in college and worked part time as a security guard at Kohl's Department Store ,I spent more time talking to the girls than chasing shoplifters- worked to my advantage, I've been married to one ever since.

I was a mid level engineer working for Carolina Power and Light at the H.B Robinson Nuclear Generating Station in Hartsville S.C. The plant is still in operation but it's now part of Duke Power Co following Duke's merger with CP&L.

In 82 my oldest son was born, I was figuring out longlining and snaring, catching mink, muskrats and coon running traps for 4-5 hours before going to work at 7 am. Trying to get good enough to do it for a living.
Running a water trapline early before daylight on way to work hanging Iron in Kansas City. Skinned at lunch time and ran another water line on the way home.

I worked for my folks plumbing shop and skinned a lot of fur 1,000+ critters at two different fur shops in the fall and winter worked as a stagehand at Metra Park and the Alberta Hair Theater both in Billings .
I was still trying to ride bulls and playing pool and enjoying to many adult beverages and dancing with gals on the weekend's if I got all my work done at both fur shops .

Pounding nails to make a living. Rock my baby daughter to sleep then go beating on the heavy bag in basement for hour. Sweet smell of fox hides hanging to dry in different corner of basement. Old truck, two cars none worth more than months rent. But I could usually keep two going so could work on one the others. Didn't seem things was so easy at times back then. Looking back now was pretty good times.
