It looks like something some old woman would give to a daughter or grandkid. You did a nice job. Where do you find stuff like that?

Catch you done nice job on that turned out great. I have a couple of the glass style ones. One simple style was my grandfather's he actually used back in day. No idea how old it is other than older than me. Have one old one is an Aladin style was my father's. He bought it at auction just because he always wanted one. I have couple other I picked up cheap at auctions just because I knew they were worth more than $2 I paid. My dad had a couple of the old kerosene lanterns like you usually post. Not sure where they went when he passed away? But I mom gave me the two I mentioned above.

Looks good, catch you be in heaven at the auctions here lamps/lanterns all the time. Would y'all be willin to put me up a spell? I don't take up a lot of room, a pallet on the floor is all I need and I don't smell that bad. Hey you ole Kraut, your welcome. Danny, I find stuff at auctions, yard sales, and buddies. Ebay has them but dang, gettin pricey. Mac, that's cool! I made a electrolysis tank a while back and what a game changer. I use it for cast iron cookware, and lanterns. Any of y'all that restore rusty gold tools, axe heads and such should look into it. It removes everything. I didn't use it on this Rayo but do on the rusty lanterns and skillets.
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Lol anytime, heck come warmer weather I'll put you in the garage have a bar and pool table have it made lol. My mom does the food at all the auctions and my 10 year old works for her and my aunt that does all the book work he runs tickets. I look at the bill, at tell him what to bid on and how much for me. He comes home with all kinds of things. Last auction they had probably every bit of 100oil lamps some old some new. I bought a matching pair for 20 bucks just to have on back Incase lights go out. Your awesome, that's pretty cool!

Great job as always!!! I was just about to ask, If you’re still restoring lanterns. It been a little while since I saw one! Appreciate it Gator. I did take a break, been doing these lamps and some cast iron. But lol, this is my next victim. Circa 1912ish. I'm looking forward to completing it and giving it as a gift. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2023/01/full-46733-164483-img_5359.jpg)

Amazing you are finding them with the glass in them. Yep, that first pic was with a original Rayo chimney. Usually you have to get the cart before the horse or the horse before the cart and just wait till you can put the puzzle accurately together. Sometimes you get lucky, not often for me lol.

Darn it, now the admiral wants one of those. I should not have shown her that picture. Another nice mess you got me into Catch Whatever you do Scuba, don't let her see this pic. I am already screwed with that frost picture. I have no idea where to get something like that to restore. I'll just add it to the long list I have that she will nag me about. Whats one more thing anyways.

According to an article I read many years ago, can't remember where, round wick lamps have a tendency to blow up and start fires! Have any of ya'll heard of this?

I have a small red lantern which I fill with citronella and use it on the deck to keep the mosquitoes at bay. It burns citronella just like what's supposed to go in it.
