Before you say google it, I have checked youtube, the archives, google, and I swear I haven't found a single source detailing how to make one? I'm in Canada where apparently they don't even sell them and I don't want to pay crazy imports.

What time of metal, tools, etc. am I looking at? Thanks so much for any help!

I think Stu on Coon Creek Outdoors has a video on how to make one. Eric

Probably easier to just buy the tip and weld it on.

Contact the owner. He can ship you just a tip you can weld onto your own handle to save shipping.

Here is a picture. You should be able to get close.

Not sure what kind of ground you are driving in, that will make a difference on material used. Our ground here is pretty consistent and the one I made to drive my stakes was made out of grounding rod. Cut a slot for the anchor, make sure it is deep enough that when it is loaded on the driver it drives against the j hook and not the anchor. Cut a notch out for the j hook.

I wonder if you could try a driver that rams other type of earth anchors in the ground

Angela is right That would be the easiest.
But if you want to do it yourself.
I cut the slot with a hand hacksaw with 2 blades in it for the width of the slot for the washer..
The half circle was cut with a Dremel The flattened part for the head of the nail aka swivel was cut with a file.
I believe the rod Pogo uses is harder than what I used. I notice mine bend where the washer fits.
FWIW I bought a Pogo years ago, but it came up missing. I have made a couple that work OK.

Last year I bought one of Pogo's tips but haven't assembled it yet.
good luck
just

.

First one I owned I bought used at the state convention.

Ordered two more tips for backups if I lost it.

He makes a great product.
Adding a handle isn't too hard.
Seems a lot easier than trying to make a head myself.

I have that one now. It works great, but with fur prices what they are, I've been selling off some of my stuff. I have washers that go with it too. PM me if you're interested.

Graham,
I make my driver from 5/8" bar stock. I use a chop saw to cut my slot in the rod. I got my hands on some hex shaped rod. It holds up better than the rebar or round rod.

I made mine out of rebar with a cutting wheel. Cut the slit, made the tip with one flat side for the nail head on the j hook and one side with an angle rounded for the j side of the hook. Works great for me took ten min. I'll post a picture after work. I watched a YouTube video on how to drive them in and it had a good view of the tip on a professionally made one and I copied it.

Use this for your rod and it'll last a lot longer. https://www.harborfreight.com/30-in-gooseneck-wrecking-bar-69036.html

They are in several sizes. They have them up to 48" long. You could get 40-42" driver if you needed one for deep water or something.

Thanks for taking the time to post this, I got a bunch of rebar laying around. Do you just bang on the top of the rebar or did you weld some sort of nut onto it?
