Pretty easy takes about 5 -10 min. All you need is a angle grinder with a cutting disk . Draw a cross on the end on for 1/2" rod. Cut into it with a angle grinder and cutting disc. Make it a little wider and longer then your washer . You want some slop. Once you cut that one cut the other but wider to accommodate your J hook.. you'll bust these things kinda frequently in hard ground but 20' of 1/2 is like $22 and it takes less then 10 min each so

It's nice of you to try to help but that soft steel is going to spread out and any gap around the washer will fill with dirt in many types of soil and the washer will stay stuck on the driver. Also you have loaded the pogo wrong if you drive them like that you run the risk of opening the J-hook. The best way to make your own is to buy a milled, hardened tip from POGO and add a handle to it.

Interesting, well I've only ever using them in mud water trapping so makes sense I've never really had any of the problems you mentioned. Thanks for the feed back

We tried using a homemade pogo driver once. It lasted exactly one trap, lol.

I try them they didnt work. So now I use 1/2" black pipe cut about 2" off and weld a nut in the middle. They hold real good I puh them down 18" to 2'.

All depends on the soil. I made one and used it until I went back to rebar. Never had an issue.

Yup had mine, made out of rebar for at least 6 or 7 years getting worn down on the tip but still going strong. Mostly sandy soil here

I make mine ALMOST exactly like WolfDog's. Only thing I do differently is make the j-hook slots very shallow. The j-hook was sticking on my well used homemade drivers due to the corners of the driver pinching in over time. I've never had dirt jam the washers. I've been using 2" pogos for about 10 years now...all kinds of soils...for coyote trapping. Pogos are getting more expensive to make at today's prices and I'm shifting over to Fangs.

I have some made from the 1/2" round rod, 5/8" rebar, and 1/2" hex rod. All about the same.
