at a glance it appears it sets today as day 1 of SBR form 1 filing and closes it in 120 days

they think between 20 and 40 million braced pistols and firearms are in private ownership

It's not the braces themselves that are being banned, but rather it's that pistols with braces "might" be short barreled rifles. The gist of it is that various features of the gun, things like the type of brace, telescoping sights, overall length, threaded barrel, angled grip, etc etc etc are worth varying amounts of points. If the gun accumulates enough points, then it's a short barreled rifle. If your gun has enough points, you have 120 days to either get rid of it, register it as a short barreled rifle, or do nothing and keep your mouth shut.
They also list a bunch of specific firearms that are automatically short barreled rifles, for example my neighbor has a Smith and Wesson M&P-22 with the sb3 brace, it's listed as a short barreled rifle.....so now I gotta try to convince wifey that I should buy it off of him

I dont own a braced pistol. Never had an AR till the commissar started saying it was unsafe to the public at large if I did. I wish they would quit making me buy stuff.

so here is the deal if you have other paper in your name suppressor or such , then take the free tax stamp they already know who you are. SBR everything you have with a <16 inch barrel.

1 obviously it is a registry.

2. you need to fill out a form 22 to move an SBR out of state so you are stuck in your state without filing change of location papers. basically

3. it is no longer a handgun/pistol it is a NFA-SBR a rifle so now rifle laws apply to car carry , as an example in WI your CCL lets you carry it loaded , but not a rifle.

between 2 and 3 is goes a long way to killing them as a truck gun.

4 it also will no longer count in handgun hunting although that is a state reg , if it is an SBR can it be used fro handgun hunting reading the WI regs it would appear not.

maybe 5 it may change the reporting requirements for lost or stolen guns
