I have not been terribly impressed with the set of DeWalt batterie tools I have. The Batteries don't seem to hold up that well. So as NC batteries are well on their way out and LI ion are the way to go, I am thinking of upgrading my set and am torn as to what to go with. I am leaning towards Makita but Hitachi/ metabolism don't look too bad either. I am going to start off by buying an angle grinder, a couple of batteries and a charger and then add to that as I go along. What would you go with. Fein and Festool are out of my budget .... just thought I would throw that in there

I bought a couple 100 foot extension cords. Got a 110 converter with clamps to attach to my pick up battery and a generator for all day away from home use. Started gathering that stuff before batteries were an option. May take a bit more effort but it all still works when I need it

I will buy a couple more of the DeWalt batteries and then donate the whole set to the admiral. That way she has something to play with when I am away at work, and she is a bit more gentle on tools than I am so they should still last her a while.

The batterie ones are just for those quick jobs where it would not be worth setting up a penny for or when working on a boat that does not have shore power and around the property

I've been very happy with the Milwaukee stuff. I think Rigid has about the best warranty. Lifetime battery replacement, if I remember correctly. I ditched DeWalt when everything went 20V.

There's a better than average chance that most of them are assembled in the same factory in Taiwan or China.
Pick the latest and greatest with the features you want.
Our project manager said that the shop is considering a shift to Milwaukee since DeWalt doesn't seem to be holding up as well as we expected. But I haven't heard that from the men who sign the checks. So that may be wishful thinking on the PM's part.

I’ve never been disappointed with Milwaukee. I’ve used them hard in rough conditions, in the oilfield in -30 weather and rain and mud and grime. I also have and use a lot of dewalt and they’re decent too but they just don’t seem to do quite as well.

My m-18 stuff has been pretty good. No battery issues and they stay in unheated thru some of the cold months.

I know they're considered cheap nowadays, but we've had pretty good luck with Craftsman. I spent Thursday at work assembling lawn furniture all day and a fully charged 2ah battery lasted the whole day of that... granted that wasn't constant use.

There are two different grades of tools. The ones you buy at the big box stores are junk and the ones from name brand tool stores are the construction grade you'll want. I've had Milwaukee and DeWalt and like some tools of one brand and other tools from the other.
