Walked in to check my one and only deadly mink box today on my way to the fur pick up.
Picked up this nice shiny black otter.
He never made it out of the box before he croaked.
120 belisle=lights out.
This one set is at a great fur funnel and has produced 5 species since i set it up a few weeks ago.
Mink, marten, fox, lynx and now an otter.

That was my special combo bait.
It is actually two separate baits in the same box-one aged and one fresh.
The location has a lot to do with the multi species production at that set.

All in the 120 except the lynx,I seen his tracks in the area and hung a snare between the box and some brush in a type of walkthru right in front of the box.
I have snared a few cats like that.

Couldnt get the trap off until later-it was frozen solid deep in the neck.Always compress the springs before animals are thawed to reduce drying of the skin that happens if you leave it clamped.

Always a good idea to anchor solid even the smaller traps, especially when set on the ground.
This box is set on a beaver house. The house is on the bank and acessable from land.
It is also located at the outlet of a large swamp where it narrows down to a creek.
The old road crosses the creek at an old culvert right at the outlet creek.
Multiple funnels for land and water animals and the added attraction of the beaver house itself.
The otter was coming along the shoreline out on the ice heading from the swamp to the creek and made a bee line to the beaver house.
I'm sure when he spotted the hole of the camoed box he thought it was an entrance to the inside of the beaver house.
The beaver meat in the box would get his attention to the "hole".
