Took my daughter Lila on a fenced hog hunt. This is her first time harvesting anything other than a furbearer. She used a single shot smooth bore .410 which is the only big game gun she has used enough to be comfortable with. She got it done! Next year whitetail deer on our farm!

or are 410 legal in MI , 410 are not legal for deer in WI

I think .410 is legal in MI but never thought of hunting deer with one. We own many guns and she will likely progress to a 20 gauge this summer. Maybe also get her shooting a bow or at least a crossbow. She is excited about hunting but I will not pressure her hard, just suggest and encourage her.

Sure. The place is Trophy Ranch in Ubly, MI. To be honest if you are a hunter looking for a real hunt it may not be your cup of tea as it is only 100 acres in total area. They do have russian's as well as the stoker's we take in addition to ram's, buffalo, etc.. They have a nice lodge and fishing hole for group hunts. If your group is large enough they even have a awesome pig roast for you. I have mainly taken customer's for entertainment. Mostly my entertainment as many have fired guns but not at an animal. I have found it common to come up on animals resting and had to stir them up a bit to get them moving. Once the first animal is hit things get more interesting.

I would refer Kevin, his son, and crew to anyone as they are great folks. Just want to be honest to not disappoint someone traveling a distance.

What was that 410 loaded with?

The only .410 slugs I could find in enough quantity to allow Lila to practice. gave all my .410 shells away during covid to my brother so he could take my nephew out hunting.

We may indeed. Brought them to my first NTA in Escanaba for the trapperman feed and they were a hit. May be we supply both. I am the only one in the house who eats them and doc. says I should avoid such foods! lol
