I was just pondering this,,, would this apply to skinning and fleshing? I know you are not sposed to work ( at least that’s always been my understanding. What if it’s something you enjoy? Does it still apply?

Never took that literally and always thought of it as a more Jewish thing.
I always put aside some time for private devotion. Every day I think of what
Is given to me by God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. To me this is keeping the Sabbath holy.
It's my interpretation and I believe God is good with it
I have a lot of one-on-one sessions with the Big Guy!

You do not need to be in church on Sun morning at 9:00 to worship God .And at the same time you should not get religion when you find yourself stuck in a ditch 50 miles from home .Or you just slipped and hurt you ankle really bad and it is .5 miles to the truck .If you find you are in a predicament and are asking God for help .While at the same time you may recall you have not given him a thought for several weeks or months .You can say a prayer any time or place .And you can marvel at the beauty of God's world on whatever day of the week it is .Remember God expects us to be diligent and hard working So if you have a chance to work on a Sunday for extra pay should you turn it down or should you work the extra hours and be sure to remember to put a little more in the offering plate ?So what it really comes down to is a mindset of doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do .

I think you should avoid working on Sunday. I'm a farmer so I have to work on Sunday. But sometimes you can plan ahead and do some extra work on Saturday so you don't have to do quite so much on Sunday . Just my worthless 2 cents. That said sometimes I can't help myself and I start processing scrap metal on Sunday. So I can't even follow my worthless advice, LOL.

Farmers don't have to work on Sunday. My 92 year old dad has never worked on Sunday except to take care of animals. Even after my brother and brother in law took over the tractors stay parked on Sunday and my brother is not a religious person

All dairy farms work on Sunday here. 24/7/365

By the way, The sabbath is on a saturday.

God set aside one day a week for us, so we don't overwork ourselves.
If you insist on keeping the sabbath in order to keep God pleased with you, then for your sake I hope you keep all the rest of those laws, and not just the ten commandments; no eating pork, no oysters, don't cut your hair on the sides of your head, etc, etc.

I think a day of rest is how God designed us, we also use that day to worship and fellowship with other believers. And if you aren't a believer it's still in your design to rest and hangout with family and friends.

This kind of debate has been going on for thousands of years now. I have only relatively recently begun to realize the importance of practicing Sabbath. It can be difficult to keep, but it is an important and valuable practice. As waggler said, it's woven into the fabric of the universe and is essential to human well-being. I hope you don't mind me saying so foxkidd, but seeing the difficulties, struggles, and anxieties that are currently present in your life, it may be especially rewarding for you now. It is an entire day set aside (i.e. made holy) in order to acknowledge that I am not in control and that God is, and then rest inside of His goodness and provision.

So the specifics of what counts as work becomes a question about motivations. Are you working to get ahead (or keep up)? Meaning: are you still pretending to maintain control? Or is the activity a restful, life-giving, worship-inducing practice? You need to stop (that's the Hebrew root word of Sabbath), rest, worship, and delight in God's goodness. If putting up fur does that for you, then go for it.

Why do people ignore that Sabbath is not Sunday but Saturday?

I think the idea of Resurrection Sunday, or the Lord's day, has been conflated/combined with Sabbath over time. The early church often practiced both.
