Teton County residents can be fined $750 a day if their Christmas lights are still on after January 10. This includes lights on buildings, signs, trees, shrubs and vegetation. The goal, according to Chris Nuebecker, Director of County Planning and Building Services is to reduce light pollution hazards including disruption for stargazers and nocturnal wildlife. Another goal is for the County to become eligible for designation as a Dark Sky Community by the International Dark Sky Association. Jackson, Wyoming is located in Teton County. This should say it all.

Have to say that if this is "wokeness" I'd have to agree with it. I moved to what was a remote area 35 years ago to enjoy the wildlife and quiet. Now there are big bright lights illuminating the castles built on top of every mountain, hill and knoll around for miles. The elk used to migrate on the ridges to be able to drop off either side to avoid threats. I used to see hundreds if not thousands migrating in the early winter. Now there isn't even a nighttime trail in the snow from one.

I’m not a fan of lights either, especially the big yard lights that the transplants all seem to need shining all night long. Afraid of the dark I guess.

What's the point of owning land if everyone else gets to dictate what you have on it. You ever been to Jackson? If you had, you would understand. Besides, you don't ever own anything. You just lease it from the government. Stop paying taxes and see who gets it.

I also am not a fan of the lights that people have to have on at night. What do you need a yard light on for? On a clear night we can see the lights from Riverton and Lander which are 50 miles away. But Jackson sucks anyway! YES 3X, what was heaven isn't any longer. The place changed from three locals restaurants, two that were closed in the winter, to over a hundred "Fine Dining" establishments open 24 x 7 and a Starbucks every block.

If you never seen a western night sky, on a moonless cloudless night, out where ranches are twenty miles apart, you really need to. There is no way to describe it. You can't see the stars east of the Mississippi for all the lights. Even when your out away from everybody. Just too much artificial light even though you dont really see it.
I would put up christmas lights on the 11th though if I lived there just to take that nonsense to court.
Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

What if you have a love one overseas, serving our country, returns after January 10th and the family want to celebrate a belated Christmas Eve/Day with them?
What's next, remove your home from a secluded area to achieve designation by some other International Association?
This is a government overstep and is ridiculous!
MAGA!!!

On the North Platte near Leo (between Sinclair and Alcova) there are no lights besides my fire. It doesn't get more peaceful and calm than that.

If someone has done better than you, you settled for less but, it's not their fault.
