Trying to do a little brass sorting to find some 30-06 and looks like I need to buy that thing in the corner and forget about it because .270 is king lol ! Seriously pick up a hand full of brass it's with gonna be a few .223's or .270 out this lot

That’s my wife’s go to caliber. She’s been shooting hers since she was 14. Deer, elk, antelope, coyotes, badgers she doesn’t care.

I have necked up 270 brass to 06 with just a set of dies. they will work in a pinch but the neck is a bit to short. annealing is key. going the other way works great. just dont shoot one in an 06 or your buck will probably bounce away. the 06 in 270 if you close the bolt wont end good. the bullet gets shoved down in the case. i been told you will probably survive but the gun wont.

P.S. 270 is my go to deer rifle. works good for elk but the first time one runs 200 yards into the bottom of the draw you will use something bigger if you got it. 300 win mag hits em a lot harder and shoots as flat as a 270

Look old brass like that over careful. probably get some splits and cracks in a few when you resize. check them for length too. I like to use the same head stamp also instead of mixing them up.

My most accurate deer rifle is a Model 700 ADL in 270. You just never find articles about accurate rifles in 270. Love mine. I once made two kills in 10 seconds at 540 yards. Thought I missed so I shot again. Killed two. I found the first deer in a soybean field and my dog wouldn’t come to me. She was standing over the other. A friend drove up and ranged the stand from the kill sight. 540 yds. Bullet was a Sierra 140 grain. Legal in NC.

I have a steyr in 270. Always liked the fact Jack O'Connor shot a 270 for history. Jack took a bighorn ram in the same area where I got my ram. Always figured it was out of the same genetic population which is real cool to me. I shoot a 300 mag for bigger game. I dropped a bull moose in a pile with the 300 mag.

Yeah. BIL shot his deer with a .270. Ruined a shoulder every time. Looked like grape jelly. They're killers though. I just like a 30-30. Kills em' dead enough for me.

I've shot deer , antelope , elk with it .

My bow kill elk have all traveled less distance after the shot than the ones hit with .270

For that reason I bought a 300 win mag a couple of months ago . It's locked up in libtard jail right now , hoping to get it in a month or two . Looking forward to using this sometime on a future elk hunt

I'd suggest both the 130 gr or the 140 gr bullets in the .270 I've shot a bunch of deer and antelope with mine and dropped a cow buffalo in her tracks also bullet placement is important .

To many other good calibers to choose from

Bought my boy one a year ago. Really impressed with it. Great caliber for deer size animals beyond 250 yds. Great ballistics in a caliber you can find anywhere ammo is sold.

That’s bullet selection as much as caliber. It you want to save meat neck shoot them or if doe head shot !

Got a savage axis in 270 . With federal 130 grain powershok it will put 3 rounds in a pinto bean sized hole at 100 . yards . All day every day.

Very versatile. I use a browning a-bolt .270 best gun in my cabinet. 130 grain a real tack driver.

I have a 270 and 300 mag both are Ruger M77, I hunt with the 270 and use Barnes 130. It will ruin both front shoulders on deer. I usually shoot them in their chest most either drop or go only 30 yards. Same thing with black bears. Absolutely love my 270 Ruger M77.

If you fellows are having trouble with too much meat damage either alter your shot placement to the neck or head or choose a projectile with a stronger construction to limit the hydraulic shock that is transferred to the animal. I’ve switched from nobler ballistic tips to partitions for deer out of my 7STW so my processor doesn’t complain of the damage on close shots.
