Has anyone built a trailer specifically suited to trapping? I am thinking about a place on the front flat deck area for an ATV with a rear enclosed area for equipment, lures, traps ETC. Maybe even a roof rack for long item storage.

Looking for ideas or pics of what has worked for everyone

May want to reverse that. Put more weight on the tongue instead of all of it on the rear. The enclosure plus all the gear and everything will probably outweigh the ATV. Seen too many tail whipping trailers going down the road with weight distribution off. Most guys I know that use a trailer for trapping just use an enclosed one and pull ther wheeler or sxs inside and pack gear in totes around it, then unload the wheeler and they have room to work on everything, cot to sleep on etc.

Sometimes nothing can be a real cool hand

I made a hunting trailer, which might not be exactly what you're looking for but it might give you some ideas.

Different every day on the trapline. Won't be a basecamp trailer. I need the ATV to run the trapline.
I have an SUV that I drive daily that I don't partially want to haul animals and equipment in. I trap near where I work so will be a daily driver compatible

I'd keep it small as possible. For every day use I don't think I'd like an enclosed area. Other than if you need to carry an atv most guys have plenty space just in a pickup bed. Even long liners that run lots of trap and catch lots of animals. Maybe water trapping is different put you can only set so many traps in a day and use some much bait and lure in one day. How many traps do you set in a day and how many do you have out all at once?

If the ATV is in the open front part of the trailer it is susceptible to road grime, slush, dust, rock chips, etc. You'll also need to be careful where you leave it/park it, surprising how fast thieves can cause trouble when you run into a walmart for a few minutes or go inside a store to pay for your gas.

Put the ATV in the box of your truck.

You'll need a couple chest freezers in the trailer if trapping. They take up a lot of space.

And don't forget, trapping equipment weighs a lot. Airbags on your truck are pretty much mandatory, IMO. It's the 1st thing I add now. Stock springs usually don't cut it.

Oh and make sure its a tendem axel.

BernieB, I did consider the road grime issue. Maybe so sort of shield like a snow machine trailer might have. Probably something you deal with more than we do in southern Missouri. Thoughts?

Yes Sir, I have access to several farms that are several miles in between and have not established a line. You might be right that it would be easier to use a truck. I was planning on leaving the trailer loaded at one of the farms in the owner's barn and just coming to hook up to it so I can run the line.

Great feedback, keep it coming
