If they do that the west will nuke Putin. Would the response to a small yield battlefield nuke be to nuke a countries leader? What, they would nuke Moscow? Incoming missiles to Moscow would receive a similar response. London, Brussels and DC. would glow. A similar small yield nuke response to the base/ship that launched the russian nuke would be the most likely response...I guess they would hunt the sub down if it was the launch vehicle. I do not think we would see a global nuclear war because a small yield nuke was used on a battlefield and if putin used one the uke backers might re-consider their strategy and putin might tolerate a limited response without escalation.

Nato has all kinds of nukes.Canada was involved in the development of nuclear weapons after ww2. We had nuclear weapons until 1984. We got rid of our nukes long ago. The Candu reactor is Canadian nuclear technology. We get most of our electricity here from nuke. So yes you ment the US. You can claim nato but since we fund 80% of nato that means the US pays the bills there also. Easy to thump your chest when you're only tossing in ten cents to the game.

We actuall give more per capita. Canada hits well above our weight. Yous on the other hand are notoriously slow off the mark.

Reality check below:
During the 2014 summit, all NATO members agreed to spend at least 2% of their GDPs on defense by 2025. In 2017, only four nations met the threshold: The United States (3.6%), Greece (2.4%), the United Kingdom (2.1%), and Poland (2.0%). However, by 2021, ten countries were meeting the percentage target.
Top 10 NATO Countries with the Highest Defense Expenditures (by % of 2021 GDP)
Greece — 3.82% United States — 3.52% Croatia — 2.79% United Kingdom — 2.29% Estonia — 2.28% Latvia — 2.27% Poland — 2.10% Lithuania — 2.03% Romania — 2.02% France — 2.01%
I do not see canada on the list....

A week or so ago, on another place, I said the math simply doesn't work, you know the logistics behind fighting a longer war. If you shoot more arty shells than what your "friends" can produce, sooner or later you end up in a bad situation. This non-friendly Russian source (first link) basically is saying that, the West simply can't keep up with the Ukies rate of fire. And the AFU is being constantly outgunned in ratio of fire by the Rus. People can spin it however they want, but logistics matter. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/worl...mp;cvid=45807d0f83cb45f5971f8044f8afb381Maybe after a while the West will be producing as much as needed. The downside is that the AFU may not exist by then. Again, believe whatever you want to believe. We'll know more by spring, if we're all still around... https://open.substack.com/pub/bigse...p;utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=email

My take is that no one is going to try to destroy Russia, just put them back in the box they belong in. No nukes will be used. If Russia starts a nuclear war Russia will cease to exist as a nation for the foreseeable future and their leaders know that. The Russian leaders have seen the superiority of the west's weaponry and training. Why would they think the same would not be the case for nuclear weapons? The bully using Hitler's expansionist tactics must be stopped. Putin is loosing face and if that continues it will cost him his life. The "out" for Russia if Ukraine can keep up the pressure is to remove Putin, withdraw, and take credit for stopping the war. The leaders of the free world will accept that resolution because to do otherwise is to attempt to destroy Russia, leaving Russia only one choice, something no one on either side wants. The Chinese might, but they are not involved in the decision. This has no basis in reality. While the US has spent money on developing the best conventional weapons, Russia has spent money on nukes. They have bigger nukes that carry more warheads and more options on how to send them. They have bomb shelters and the population is informed on where those shelters are... @EdP do you know where your closest shelter is? An honest assessment is the US would likely win a conventional war. Russia would come out well ahead of us if it goes nuclear and likely have a second helping in reserve if needed.
