Running my line this morning.. rolled up on a 10 pound coon in a z trap.. staked out, not able to reach anything.. he gave a lunge and out he came.. I had big marshmallow on the trigger and 4-5 pieces of dog food on top of that… I think this make’s about 9 pullouts from 12 traps in a week… zero pullouts in my grizz’s.. I’m pulling my line tomorrow, washing these with the hose, and they are going the auction block!!!

I've never had a pull out with the Dukes.

Big marshmallow might be contributing to the problem. Over the years I’ve had a couple toe caught coon pull out of Griz, dukes but nothing out of a Z. I run a lot of DPs both in the water and dry. And we have big coon in Minnesota.

When I use marshmallows I think it's a good idea to use the little ones

Never had a pullout of a Duke either and I cable off a lot of them to trees, and they get seriously tangled up, lol.

If the Z trap is a push/pull trigger and the griz is a pull trigger that big marshmallow might be affecting how deep the 2 traps are catching them as stated

I like pull only triggers. It results in deep catches.

I have 10 doz Ztraps amd use big marshmellows stuck on triggers a lot.

I'll buy those Zs, if they're less than $100/with shipping, and they are white.

$100/doz is what I paid for the last 5 dozen I bought at the NTA convention.

Did you consider just changing out the springs?

I'll give you $100 for them and 9 raccoon skins. Really love the ZTraps, 2nd only to Grizz in my opinion.

Never had a pullout. I had two toe caught coon this morning and I was glad they didn’t pull out as they were sure charging me pretty aggressively. I’ve had one particular z-trap fired with no coon but watched the landowners dog coming back from there the other day and I assume he licked it till it fired. It was froze in the ground and for a couple days I thought maybe the coons were getting leverage not getting on the chain. I run a couple dozen dukes and 3 dozen z-traps and they both work flawless for me.

Never had a pullout in those or the dukes. That’s weird.

I've got a friend who has ran Zs for years. Just bought another dozen a month or so ago and he has nothing good to say about the new ones. He's had more misses and pull outs with this dozen than he's had in his previous 30 years of trapping.
