The smell of fox urine and the hint of skunk aren't at the top of my wife's to do list, but flea markets/shopping at new locations would be high on the list. So would there be anything in Escanaba for the wife to do? Planning a vacation.

Depending how far you want to drive Marquette, the U.P. largest city,is about a hour and a half to the north along Lake Superior. Its a college town so she could probably find enough up there with no problem

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is not that far from Escanaba.
And Mackinac Island peanut butter fudge ice cream is awesome.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like there would be plenty for her to do.

Its a great lake town. With lots to do. Contact the city chamber of commerce for more.

One corner of the fairgrounds has about 8-10 different shops, something for everyone, from ice cream shop, rocks, quilts. My favorites are; Blacksmithing, museum, and the local ham radio club operates everyday of the fair. Kids and/or anyone can even learn some morse code which brings me back to my old Army days. I have been to many different fairgrounds and the Escanaba show is the best by far. I drive from Duluth, Mn which is mostly west of Escanaba, but if anyone is coming close to Iron Mt, Mi there is a museum with a display of the WWII gliders which were produce there at, I believe, a converted Ford factory that produced wooden car parts. Thats one of the great reasons that the U.P. should be its own STATE. They already have their own State Fair Grounds.
And a number of things that would let it function.
Add in have no state income tax, only sales tax. Other states can do it.
My suggestion. Just plan a shutting down the bridge.
