swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.

This will take a bit. shocked Being as my initials are 'CCW', go with double the five C's and be cognizant of the five W's.

#1 Cutlery, Knife, and axe/saw. I prefer axe.

#2 Cover. Blanket, and tarp.

#3 Container. Cup with bail and lid, sealable bottle.

#4 Combustion, Ferro-rod, flint and steel, lighter, weather-proof matches, magnifying glass. Pick any two.

#5 Cordage. Para cord, bank line/decoy cord.

The five W's to be aware of.

Water

Wood

Weather

Widow-makers

'Wiggleys' (predators, insects, snakes, spiders, scorpions, ticks, etc.)

Been awhile since I went backpacking. I used to enjoy it though. When my son was 7 I took him on a trip to CO. Bought a deer tag. We hiked about 7 miles up to a spring. He carried a sleeping bag and his 22 rifle. We did not push it. Left out early and took our time. I wanted him to enjoy it. Got to the spring in late afternoon. 1989. No computer or cell phones. A storm come in that night. Dumped about a foot of snow. I was afraid he would never leave the porch again. Pup tent stayed up and held the snow. I got up before him and got a place cleared of snow. Built a big fire. Made some pine needle tea with brown sugar before he got up. Then made some pancakes. Snow was about to his knees and I didnt want him wading through it. We just hung out enjoying the day. Sun came out and it warmed up. Snow was mostly gone the next day except in the shade. So we got up early and got atop a little ridge covered in pinon trees. Walked along the top aways. Spooked a buck up out from under us. I told him look there goes supper. Buck went a little ways and looked back. I boned it out and put it in the trash bags I brought and stuck it in the pack. Sawed off the antlers and tied them on the outside for proof of sex. We went back to camp and I butterflyed some back strap. Next day my uncle came up on a 4 wheeler to check on us. So we rode back out with him. We both agree that was one of the best times we ever had. Even with all that snow. He still hunts. Coming over in the morning to bird hunt. I am not in any shape to walk much yet I am just going to drive. Grandson is going too. He is 11. Just like his uncle Mike at that age he is wired for sound tonight.

If you want an adventure then have one. Dont dream about it watching tv

If I want to watch TV on a friday night after a 60 hour week of burning 3/8 gouging rod at 400 amps and then that's what I'm gonna do. Had lots of adventures so far in life.
If you don't like it then don't comment on the post not sure what your problem is buddy. Didn't think a trapper would be offended by a theoretical question about survival gear

People ask these type of theoretical questions all the time. It’s for conversation sake.

This about covers it. Except I would trade the shovel for a tarp. But that choice is probably due to the type of weather I usually encounter. I can survive a lot longer without food, water, and even fire as long as I'm not wet.

I always get a chuckle out of the list thing because it reminds me of a joke I read a few years back...

"I read an article titled 100 THINGS TO DO BEFORE YOU DIE. I was surprised that 'Yell for help' wasn't on the list."

I'm with Boco, but, really wouldn't know what I'd do with the axe.
