I just learned that the term "muck" is cleaning out a horse stall. How long has that term been used? I'm wondering if that's where Muck boots came from? To me Muck has alwsys been sloppy mud.

Life ain't supposed to be easy.

I learned what mucking out stalls meant when I started doing it at about 8 years old.

And in parts of Western MD and WVa, I've heard the pile left outside called the gob pile.
At least that's what I THINK they were saying, lol

it could be where the muck boots got their name they were popular with farms and horse folk

muck out a stall , muck out the barn

my grandpa talks about working the one round barn they had , thought the trolley system they had was the slickest thing it was a rail system that hung from the ceiling and the large wheel barrow like trolley hung from the rail and pushed easily you didn't have to lift anything and it was a trip bucket.
you shoveled and pushed it along around in the circle of the barn and then pull the lever to dump it.

have to muck out after milking

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

That track system and clean out system , worked really well. I filled and dumped a lot of loads. We called it a litter carrier.. The track was a great spot for the young tough guys , to show how strong they were. How many chin ups they could do. Also skin the cat . old 243

I usually muck out the passenger side before I pick up a date. Usually...

I have always worried that I will be accused of trying to seduce some poor gal with the smells of cow pies, Copenhagen, and cheap cigars.

Origion is from roughly the mid 13th century so it has been around for a few generations!

Muck was used in surviving texts as far back as 1268 to refer to manure in a barn.

Naw I ended up trading for a nice little lady who inherited some land and cattle. She's not hard to look at either.
