I'm surprised nobody listed a lifetime supply of beef jerky.

Having spent a night or two where I did not wish to be:
1. Inreach
2. Fire making supplies. Tinder, Lighter, Matches. Saw, Axe.
3. Shelter making supplies. Tarp, Sleeping Bag. Shovel added when the snow comes.
4. Cooking: Pot, Spoon
5. Food: Hot Chocolate, Ramen noodles, Jerky, Protein bars, Candy bars.
6. Water.
7. Flashlight. Extra Batteries
8. Extra Gloves and Socks.
9. Firearm and Ammo. Shotgun or 22.
10. Fishing Equipment to match the area species.
Research shows that most Survival Situations are resolved within 24 hours. Dropping me off for Long Term will find me packing the above and more.

Is the forest and the woods the same thing?
We either have woods, bottoms, or swamps.
Woods have like pines, maybe a few hardwoods and mostly dry.
Bottoms are strictly hardwoods with maybe a creek through it, the creek can just be a wet weather creek or flowing.
Swamps are just plain nasty muck with grass, thick brush, water, and a few trees. Snakes and gators are common.
Each have different requirements. The only one you better not be without is either a Thermacell or a can of skeeter repellent.

22, shells, fly rod. Box of Flys and leaders, tarp, fire starter, pot, knife, saw, nice big chunk of salt. A trap would be nice to but I'm not sure what I would get rid of from my list.

for long time survival, was the question. defiantly want a woman, a saw, wire for snares, fishing equipment, a 160 trap, a tarp, the best two person sleeping bag , a 22 and a brick of shells , some paracord this would be for the northern area

Our live off the land ancestors, had support, traveled in groups. True wilderness living required a group effort to have a level of comfort. Indians would banish someone who wasn't a "team player". Often a death sentence for someone raised in a live off the land world. I suspect European pre written language ancestors did the same thing.
