Wood thrush is close but this guy has a longer tail.

Those suckers are aggressive if ya get cost to their nest in the spring! Got hit in the back of the head doing some nest research years ago while in college.

They live much of their life on the ground like a roadrunner. Cool bird. We had them try to fledge 3 broods in our azalea bushes last year. I think the neighbors loose cat got them all. I'd take that scoundrel for a ride if it weren't for the fact that the neighbors have 3 daughters. and I don't want to be "that" guy.

Same family as Mockingbird and Catbird. All are good mimics.

Got one pair that nests nearby and loves to beat me to the figs when they're ripe.
