Then there is this

Quote
"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies," Jefferson wrote. " If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around(these banks) will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

Thomas Jefferson

I know of a situation just this week where D. R. Horton walked away from an 11 million dollar earnest money they had on a few big developments (Texas and Arizona). The guy who was selling them was counting on this deal closing soon; he has a 600 million dollar balloon payment coming due.

These kind of failures tend to cause a cascading effect.

Why does he want so many balloons?

Although people may blame higher interest rates for any impending collapse or down turn, the exact opposite will be the cause.

Can someone confirm that the boss has taken measures to ensure the site stays up and running if there is a collapse? That’s really all that matters.

You may be in the camp that there isn't going to be a collapse, or you may be wondering why it hasn't happened already...

Since this whole thing started, I've always said there is one very fragile thing, that will start this economy spiraling down hard, and nobody is talking about it. THIS quite simply, is.... "OT" (Overtime)

Per the attached link, it states that 62% of people are blue collar or (people being managed by other people) as they call it.

I would think a high percentage of these people are not salaried individuals and receive pay at an hourly rate.
So how many years have these people ( myself included) been putting in gobs of OT, a lot!

Those overtime premiums have been paying a lot of peoples car payments, house payments, rent payments, etc...
When the OT is gone, what are they going to do?
So the way I see it, the economists are so concerned with the unemployment rate, but it starts way before that...

I see it in the company I work for. Hiring has stopped and OT has dropped dramatically in the last two months, and people are NOT happy...
So in a nutshell, in these current times, people don't have to even loose their jobs just their OT and the effects are going to be catastrophic!

I think if young people continue to die at rates that are not normal, that may very well be the catalyst that gets the ball rolling. Lets pray that does not happen. The obvious situations you posted are a thousand wounds to a strong, but dying nation, and if the populous does indeed get ticked off and demand answers and accountability, then I think class action law suits against the government and big business will follow soon and then accountability. A total breakdown in government trust as they have lied to all of us whatever side of the aisle we may be on. We can't print our way with money out of this one I'm afraid.

If/when the US government gets held accountable for the deaths of millions all heck is gonna break lose.

To add to my earlier post, if young working Americans continue to see that living the American dream owning a house is no longer attainable due to government theft that will facilitate the response.

Obamacare rule. Sub 35 hrs don't qualify as full time so the employer mandates don't apply.

Another issue will be when federal student loans payments have to be made again.

They have been on a pause with no interest or payments due since March of 2020. Supposed to start 60 days after a decision is made on the Forgiveness.

At 3.5% unemployment rate, I don’t think that will be a big problem.

to have an actual collapse you need to stop the normal delivery of products especially food/fuel, a lack of law/order enforcement nationwide and a grid interruption of longer duration. The final thing I mentioned would most probably produce the other two things...

I do not think you could consider the great depression a societal collapse, it was a financial collapse. I do not consider hard times a collapse but as soft as people are today it may very well be one...

The answers here really depend on the definition of collapse.
