At FHA what’s the difference between NWT lynx and Alaskan is it colour? Anything else a guy could read up on how to grade lynx? Can’t seem to find anything with too much detail on line

I think you are referring to section,not grade.
Pelts from Alaska and the Yukon are Western similar in characteristics to those from Northern Ontario,Northern Quebec and Labrador.The fur is long and fluffy with a short grotzen.
Pelts from the NWT,Northern BC Northern AB and Northern SK are the best in the Western section.The fur is intermediate in length,with a grotzen of intermediate length and the leather is flexible and seldom boardy,similar to pelts from North central Ontario and central Quebec.

There arent enough pelts to section out beyond NWT and eastern anymore.
A few years ago they had Yukon/Alaska,NWT and Eastern.
Now just the two.

NWT guys also get a bonus and guaranteed price so that may have a bearing in sections

some time i get the both section on my shipping lynx, seem alaskan section is more silver blue back and silky and often sold in middle of calalog, NWT is more common lynx with brown back and little shorter nap with spot on bellies

Hey Fergustrap I have not heard from you in ages. Good observation on the lynx. Cycle was down last year this up coming winter lynx should be on the upswing. But my lynx resemble what you describe.

Pretty rare to get a lynx up here that doesn’t grade select. Auction High price is usually with $20 of my high price. Auction high usually matches with my high price. Lots of rabbits this spring so next fall should be a few lynx around.

My lynx from here in eastern interior seem to always grade NWT - select. The 6 that were on the March auction all graded that same way.

Yeah: stupid England traded the best part of Canada (eastern Alaska) for some sugar island! You could have been NWT-select Chickenminer! Hudson Bay Company had trading posts all through eastern Alaska at the time.
