I did say a few years ago that the UK will soon be changing their stance on foxes being a protected species! although I thought it would be as a result of a fox killing a baby (a 4 year old was killed yesterday by an American bulldog)

anyway here is a pic of red no. 63 ...caught in site no. 2 (a work colleagues grandmother's garden)

It certainly has some kind of disease or possibly several - (maybe bird flu?) the UK gov should be rewarding trappers like me for doing their dirty work for them!

Mange would be my guess I know when my flock died off I noticed a bunch of lung drainage when I picked them up. Have not heard of any cases of much cross contamination with the bird flu but they put it out there just no confirmation of it yet that I know of.

From my understanding, all human influenza starts off in birds in Asia so flu crossing species wouldn't be anything new.

P.S. I'm glad you put that fox down, it looks pretty pitiful...

Better start considering using footholds to control those foxes...just another tool for wildlife management.
